GUIDANCE ADVICE
COLLEGE APPLICATION PROCEDURES
-
Request the paper application (or you can chose to apply on-line if available).
-
Complete all student and parent sections.
-
Bring the completed application(s) to Ms. Slagle with all appropriate documents requested including fees TWO WEEKS prior to deadline (or earlier!)
-
Request transcript release card TWO WEEKS prior to deadline (or earlier!). The first transcript is free, others $2 (this covers the mailing of the transcript, mid-year transcripts and the final end of the year transcript). If you are applying on-line state on card that you are applying on-line.
-
Recommendations: ask teachers who know you and who you have good rapport to write you a recommendation (not college specific) and have them give me at least 5 copies so that I can include it with your application package.
-
Guidance Counselor recommendation: Ms. Slagle must have your resume and the form titled "Interview with College Bound Student".
-
Secondary School Report: most colleges have a one to two page report. If you are applying on-line make sure that you download and print the form. Turn the form in to Ms. Slagle.
-
Resume: make sure you have done it and that it is up to date!
-
PROOF PROOF PROOF!!!!!!!!!! And then proof read your application and essays one more time!
-
Ms. Slagle will complete your package, copy and mail for you. Make sure you give her plenty of time to do a good job for you!
-
And last but not least, when those college acceptance letters (and scholarship awards) start pouring in, please bring them to Ms. Slagle so that she can make a copy. This is the only way that we can acknowledge you.
